Anyone that enjoys water sports will tell you that they could not live without their wet suits. They do not depend on just any type of wet suit. The proper wet suit will guarantee fun and mobility in the water and at the same time maintain a comfortable body temperature. A full wet suit helps retain body temperature to normal levels even if you are in the cold water for a long time. But not all suit wet are the same. There are many different types of wet suits and each type is designed for a variety of activities and water temperatures. They come in various sizes and colors, and there are specially made suits for adults and children. Most suit wet are made from neoprene and can vary in thickness. This material serves as a barrier to tray your body heat inside and not release it in the water. Before buying a suit wet you much consider the condition of the water. The proper wet suit will protect your from hyperthermia, which is a major killer under extreme cold conditions. Another consideration is the season of the year this also will affect the water temperature. If the water temperature drops below 68F, you need a full suit wet that is thicker and made for such cold water. Another common type of wet suit is called the shorty. This type only covers the upper part of the body down to the knees. The shorty wet suit is only good for summer activities in the water or when the water is moderate or warm. A full wet suit covers the arms and legs. If you are planning on being in the water when it is below 68F purchase a full wet suit. They are made with a thicker material especially in the chest area so that it traps body heat more effectively. A thin material is not as effective in retaining your body heat and therefore will result in body heat being lost and this can be a big threat to your survival. When using a full suit wet under extreme cold water conditions you need to also use neoprene gloves, a hood, and boots. A wet suit should fit as perfectly as possible and should hug your body well but at the same time not too tightly that they will hamper your movements. Make sure that you purchase a suit wet with at least 60% neoprene material, superstretch flexibility, correct thickness and durable seam.
